Usage Policies

1. Purpose of Nivela 

Nivela is designed to help users review construction documents, identify building material requirements, estimate quantities, and support quoting workflows. 

Nivela is a decision-support tool. It does not replace professional judgment, final estimating review, project management review, or contractual responsibility. 

2. Acceptable Use 

Users may use Nivela to: 

  • Upload and review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and related project documents.
  • Ask questions about construction documents.
  • Identify assemblies, materials, manufacturers, and product requirements.
  • Generate quantity estimates and confidence-based takeoff outputs.
  • Prepare internal quotes, pricing summaries, RFQs, and sales opportunities.
  • Compare document requirements against supplier catalogs or available products.  

3. User Responsibility 

Users are responsible for reviewing and verifying all outputs before relying on them. 

This includes checking: 

  • Quantities;
  • Product selections;
  • Specifications;
  • Manufacturers;
  • Alternates or substitutions;
  • Pricing;
  • Quote terms;
  • Project exclusions;
  • Compliance with applicable codes, standards, and contract documents.  

Nivela may provide confidence levels or supporting explanations, but the user remains responsible for final decisions. 

4. Prohibited Use 

Users may not use Nivela to: 

  • Submit quotes, bids, or proposals without human review.
  • Misrepresent Nivela’s outputs as guaranteed, certified, or professionally stamped.
  • Use Nivela for unlawful, misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive purposes.
  • Upload documents they do not have the right to use.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, scrape, or misuse the platform.
  • Use Nivela to generate spam, mass unsolicited outreach, or misleading sales claims.
  • Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful code.  

5. Construction-Specific Limitations 

Nivela does not provide: 

  • Engineering advice;
  • Architectural advice;
  • Legal advice;
  • Building code certification;
  • Professional quantity surveying certification;
  • Guaranteed takeoff accuracy;
  • Guaranteed quote profitability; 
  • Guaranteed compliance with project documents.  

Where required, users should consult qualified professionals. 

6. Document Uploads 

Users should only upload documents they are authorized to access and use. 

By uploading documents, users confirm that they have the necessary rights, permissions, or authority to process those documents through Nivela. 

7. AI-Generated Outputs 

Nivela uses artificial intelligence to assist with document review and quantity extraction. AI-generated outputs may contain errors, omissions, or assumptions. 

Users should treat outputs as draft, preliminary, or decision-support materials until reviewed and approved by a qualified person. 

8. Suspension or Restriction 

We may suspend or restrict access if a user violates this Usage Policy, misuses the platform, or creates risk for Nivela, other users, or third parties. 

9. Updates 

We may update this Usage Policy from time to time. Continued use of Nivela after updates means the user accepts the updated policy.
